A Note on This Beer
New York City’s Barrier Brewing is like a collaboration magnet for some of the most sought-after breweries in the country.
We’ve only been working with them for a year, and they’ve already hooked us up with a taste of Other Half, Burial, and Magnify! And today, we are absolutely giddy to present you with their newest juicy collaboration NE-style IPA with Virginia’s Aslin.
Teaming up with Barrier is like being best friends with Quincy Jones. Quincy has produced songs for some of the biggest names in music, so I’m sure he’s introduced a bunch of buddies to stars like Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson, Celine Dion, and Aretha Franklin.
But for beer geeks like us, being introduced to a brewery like Aslin is way better than meeting any star. Here's why:
- They make 3 of the Top 10 beers in Virginia on BA — including #1.
- They’re helping put their state on the craft beer map with a brewery rating that’s higher than craft beer giants Holy Mountain, Anchorage, and Maine Beer Company.
- And they make 2 of the Top 25 Milkshake IPAs in the nation on UT, that’s no easy feat in one of the most competitive styles in craft.
And while today’s #4# NE-style Hazy isn’t a Milkshake, it’s so smooth and creamy, it might just fool you into thinking it is!
Fans are mesmerized by this 7.6% ABV brew’s sweet flavors of Mandarin orange and dank papaya. Ripe mango meets swirls of vanilla with subtle hints of freshly ground mint leaves. The mouthfeel is thick and luscious — #4# is the definition of hop candy.
More and more breweries are trying their hand at imitating Aslin’s IPAs, but #4# is your authentic benchmark to weed out all the imposters. And the bar is set high, lemme tell ya.
