A Note on This Beer
It’s rare when a brewery excels at both beers to sip slowly and beers to sling back - but Seattle’s Fremont Brewing is no common brewery. It seems that no matter the ABV, Fremont can do no wrong.
Harnessing the same delicious intensity of their boozy hits into laid-back sessionability, their success transcends into the 4% ABV potently flavorful Select 77 Session IPA.
In order to maximize every kernel of flavor, Fremont uses all the tools at their disposal:
Hops - Calypso, Chinook, Cascade and Citra are three of craft’s most intense varietals. Bridging a spicy, citrusy aroma and fruity complexity with an impactful bitterness, these hops rise above the sessionable challenge.
Fire Brewing - This old school heating method uses direct heat in the kettle. The higher temperature of the flame encourages the release of extra fruitiness from the malts, and resulting caramelization gives a deeper, slightly toasty taste to the base.
Malts - As important as hops are to an IPA, malt selection is key for Sessions. Fremont wrangles three light types of malts - Pale, Honey, and Special Aromatic - allowing hop intensity to shine while accenting their flavor.
Upon the Select 77’s release, fans braved chilling December rains to get an early taste of their favorite Spring tradition. It’s as well-made as any of Fremont’s barrel-aged brews, uncompromising with every aspect of taste, and with such an easy going ABV - it’s as endlessly unforgettable. Bottled on January 14th, you’ll be getting as fresh a taste as you would at the taproom!
