A Note on This Beer
Evil Twin’s brewmaster Jeppe is known for dumping all kinds of crazy ingredients into his behemoth sized Stouts. Doughnuts, cereal, pizza, actual money. It seems like there’s nothing this dude isn’t willing to experiment with in his mash tun.
That’s why today’s 90 Day Dry-Aged Stout is so bizarre and exciting: There’s nothing weird in it! With no other flavors to stand in the way, this is a rare opportunity to taste what makes Jeppe’s brews so incredible: the base beers are flawless!
When we asked Jeppe what inspired him to create this brew, he said “Making straight out Stouts from time to time is fun! It’s not something you see too often anymore…” Apparently even Mr. Evil Twin himself needs a break from weird now and then.
So what does it taste like when the master of wacky ingredients brews a straight up, totally true-to-style Milk Stout?
Smooooooth.
The 9% ABV completely vanishes behind a curtain of dark chocolate, roasty malt, and inky black malt depths. Layers of biscuit and espresso mingle with subtle notes of toffee, cream, and a light earthiness. It’s so ludicrously drinkable that we almost popped open a second bottle. Turns out Evil Twin can bring the flavor even without any bizarre additions!
Jeppe says he brewed 90 Day specifically to pair with steak. Sadly, we didn’t have any slabs of beer to much on when we sipped this Stout, but its roasty sweetness sure as hell tastes like it would go well with a rib eye.
Every serious Stout fan on earth knows Evil Twin for their adjunct-heavy brews. Today, you can sample their Dark Beer skills in an unadulterated Milk Stout. 90 day is a rare glimpse of the straight up brewing skill that makes Evil Twin’s beers so coveted.
