About This Beer
The Alaskan crew took A Deal With the Devil to diabolical new depths with this first ever Penta Oaked vintage! This opulent elixir spent a total of 43 months aging in FIVE consecutive barrels! The brewers started with their seminal, chewy base aged in Willett rye whiskey casks before transferring it to Calumet Farm 15-year bourbon barrels. After that, it rested in Russel’s Reserve bourbon, then a cask of The Bee’s Knees bourbon from Shortbarrel before a final slumber in a New Riff single cask rye whiskey barrel suggested by Fiori D’Italia — a neighboring restaurant in Anchorage.
Tasting Notes
We haven’t had the pleasure of tasting this one yet (we’re just as excited as you!), but we’re anticipating opulent bread pudding tones cascading with tons of bourbon caramel and oaky vanilla. Chewy date and raisin should carry underneath with plenty of woody spice all culminating in a smooth, spirit-soaked finish.
