About This Beer
As the name suggests, this rich, luxurious Barleywine is all about barrels! The crew at Anchorage first aged this 17% ABV brew in Woodford Reserve Double Oaked for 10 months, then they transferred the beer to fresh Woodford Reserve barrels for another 11 months. Finally, they moved the brew into a different set of Woodford and Willet barrels for an additional eight months.
That’s a total of 29 months in oak! And because the beer was repeatedly moved into new barrels, fans say it picked up even more whiskey caramel and earthy wood flavors than you might expect!
Tasting Notes
This brew is so new, we haven’t even tried it yet. But lucky Anchorage locals (and fans who made the trip up to AK for the release) say it overflows with toffee, chocolate, and candied date flavor. Bold and boozy whiskey washes across the taste buds on every sip, carrying nuances of raisin and brown sugar. One early taster said it’s “like drivin’ a Lamborghini through the mountains.” We’re not exactly sure what that means, but they rated it 5/5 so it’s gotta be good.
