A Note on This Beer

I sometimes fantasize about what I’ll do in my “second act.”

You know, after my kids have grown and I’m free to explore new hobbies. Maybe I’ll get my PhD, finish my novel, or dedicate myself to crafting delicious beer, like the 5 time GABF award-winning team at Wander Brewing!

These Iowa natives moved to the seaside town of Bellingham, WA for their engineering and non-profit careers. It wasn’t long before they left their jobs behind to travel the world and follow their dream of opening a brewery.

We’re so thankful they did! Because, it means we get to share their exquisite Lambic-style beers with you.

Act 2 is the third in their series of 100% coolship-captured, spontaneously fermented Lambic-inspired Wild Ales. They crafted it from a blend of two- and three-year-old beers that they aged in French Oak. After blending, the brewers aged Act 2 on locally grown blackberries before bottle conditioning it for six months.

Huge notes of sweet-tart blackberry erupt from its violet pour, along with a gentle whisper of woody oak. Its nectarous mouthfeel surrounds your tongue like a spoonful of blackberry jam, with waves of Bretty funk meandering throughout. At the end of your sip, it finishes crisp and dry, with a lip-puckering tang.

If you move quickly, you won’t have to wait until your second act to enjoy this elegant brew — the best time to taste it is right now.

very funky and wine like! tart, juicy yet also drying on the finish, farmhouse wine funk, and oaky notes all wrapped together. blackberry is very bright without the beer being too sour. love this.

Very vinous and dry taste. Not as sweet as I thought.

wonderful and true to lambic style, packing a sour punch while managing a delicate blackberry taste in the background

Seemed more like a wine than anything to me. While very interesting and good for a little bit of sipping I found it hard to finish the entire bottle.

Playing Diablo II Resurrected drinking this guy. The tart doesn’t hit you until you swallow. It’s an interesting drink. The blackberry gives this a punch of tart roundness. pour is plum with no head retention. Reviewed live at twitch.tvbrewedforgaming

the berry was the best part but that funky bitter taste completely dominates, found it difficult to finish the bottle. not a fan
