A Note on This Beer
In much of Southern Asia, mangoes are hailed as the king of fruits! In Greece, pomegranates are a traditional housewarming gift that represents abundance and prosperity.
So, don’t be surprised if today’s fruit-packed Adder Sour Ale leaves you feeling rich and royal — it sure does taste like something a monarch might drink.
Every sip is a beautifully balanced yin and yang of sweet, tropical mango, and the tart cherry-meets-berry flavor of pomegranate. Light, lemony notes from the base ale shine through, leading to a dry, refreshing finish that’s hard to stop sipping.
Not surprisingly, this stuff comes from the Denver kings of spontaneously fermented Sours at Black Project. Like all things regal, their small-batch brews are reserved for a select few — even locals have a hard time getting their hands on the brewery’s special releases. Though, that didn’t stop the Denver Post from naming BP the Colorado Brewery of the year!
A beer can’t make you rich, and it certainly won’t magically transform you into royalty. But, with a glass of Adder in your hand, you might find yourself feeling a bit more prosperous than usual. Especially if you drink it out of a chalice.
