A Note on This Beer
Another World Barrel-Aged Red Sour is the Rare Barrel’s beloved yearly release, a finely-tuned barrel-aged wonder -- one of many beers that place Rare Barrel among the Top 25 Brewers in the World on Untappd.
Their name says it all: everything Rare Barrel makes is ever-rotating, small-batch vintages. Tavourians rank Rare Barrel over 4.40+ every time. Given the mind-boggling flavors in Another World, we suspect it could go even higher…
A bronze amber pour bursts with notes of red berries -- blackberries, cherries and plums spiked with a tang of citron. The first layer of complexity is tart cherries and toasted caramel oak. Wet wood notes soften the Sour edge with a vanilla caramel-toasted glaze. A murmur of red wine and nutty port glides below cranberry-like tartness. The complexity will slowly unfurl as it warms. You’ll want to take time drinking it, but you’ll be so spellbound by the flavors that you’ll keep sipping taste after taste.
Even among the many sights of San Francisco, Rare Barrel is a go-to visit for any Sour-discerning tourist. Just as a visit to Brussels is incomplete without a trip to Cantillon, so a visit to Rare Barrel makes any SF trip that much more special. Us Tavourians scamper to buy anything Rare Barrel, but we’ve saves a precious few for you!
