A Note on This Beer

There’s something so ethereal and mysterious about Wild Ales. The brewers combine spontaneous yeasts and microbes with their wort, nature lends a hand, and something beautiful is born — like a butterfly emerging from a chrysalis.

Black Project’s fermentation masters say today’s ARCHANGEL “roams the expanse of your mind, casting spells of honeydew and pineapple with every step.” And that the flavors “magically meld into a singular experience without beginning or end”.

With its ambrosial scent and nature-approved fruit flavors, I can easily see what they mean. This otherworldly brew is full of the playful brightness of fresh pineapple and spicy funk, but it's mellowed out by juicy, ripe honeydew.

We’re always excited to be blessed with creations from the brewery PorchDrinking.com calls “one of Colorado’s best in the field of sour and wild beers!”

We’d recommend chilling Archangel overnight and enjoying it in a shady spot on the lawn — its light, refreshing character is a delicious complement to either a relaxing afternoon, or a night spent gazing up at the heavenly bodies.

*Black Project holds multiple medals from GABF!

Outstanding sour. Understated fruit but melon adds a nice dimension

Delightfully very sour. Pineapple and melon takes the edge off the sour.

Benefits from warming and air, drops the sharp sour to an enjoyable tartness

Mostly tastes like sour mix... a decent sour, but completely missing the HoneyDew and Pineapple flavors.

First sour I've ever had from Black Project and man I didn't expect that kind of sourness but I appreciated it. Pineapple was very prominent but the honeydew was faint

Absolutely love every sour I’ve had from black project. Truly puckering, but not without its complexity and funk as a spontaneously fermented beer.

Oh wow! So juicy and extremely sour! Carbonation is high when drinking, very fizzy!

If you drink stuff from Black Project, be prepared for actual sour beers. They have delicious notes of whatever they’re playing with, but people digging on them need to research the breweries they are buying from. This is one of my favorite sours this year

Up front and bold sour/tart notes. Honeydew is achingly faint, but shows up at the end.

Excellent! A wonderful "savory" sour. Most sours I enjoy are heavily fruit based and sweet. This beer uses fruit but the flavor is more earthy and "green" instead of intensely sugary. Hard to describe the taste but it is worth a try.

Yes this is it! An amazing rawness of a sour and how it was meant to be! My taste buds thank you!

I like Cobra Ball better so far but this has a nice tartness to start, with a kick of pineapple after

Daily corona battle. Bring on sleep training round 2 edition. This is punch ya in the mouth tart and acidic. More pineapple than the honeydew, but it’s a sour man’s sour.

One of my favorite sours from them, definitely one of their more extreme brews.

Somewhat squishy can. No carbonation. Notes of melon and a light pineapple background with a tart finish. I'm actually impressed at how much this gives me honeydew
