A Note on This Beer
Old Rasputin is one of the most distinguished names in Russian Imperial Stouts — and that’s before it gets the Bourbon Barrel-Aged treatment. Now on its 21st year, the World Beer Championships two-time Gold Medalist, North Coast’s BBA Old Rasputin XXI is finally back!
Last year’s vintage of this 12.2% ABV Imperial Stout scored a massive 4.48 from our Tavour members. And when pitted against 3 Floyds’ Dark Lord and Smuttynose Imperial Stout, Old Rasputin was notorious beer blogger ManBque’s unanimous winner. This brew has gained so much respect, it’s become the gold standard for all Russian Imperial Stouts.
This brew can enter any Dark Beer bottleshare with the confidence of a superstar. BBA Old Rasputin tastes like a silky boozebomb of bittersweet dark chocolate, Italian espresso, and Bourbon-drenched dates. Its thunderous booze is tempered by notes of oaky vanilla and a touch of peat smoke drawn from the barrels.
Once exclusive to the taproom, fans’ relentless requests for BBA Old Rasputin convinced the brewery to share a small batch with the public once a year. We’ve locked down a tiny stash so that a few lucky, Stout-thirsty Tavour members have the opportunity to share this barrel-aged celebration of Dark Beer with their friends. Or drink it all themselves. That’s what Rasputin would have done.
