A Note on This Beer

Deep in the outer reaches of our solar system, far beyond Neptune and Pluto, lies a vast, mostly empty region of space known as the Oort Cloud. Out here, essentially none of the sun’s light reaches. Out here, it is dark...

ALMOST as dark as Ecliptic Brewing’s Oort Imperial Stout!

This cosmic sipper comes from the mind of Oregon beer icon and head brewer, John Harris. With his Dark Beer wisdom, he created an intergalactic range of flavor in this Bourbon Barrel Aged 2021 vintage of Oort.

Those hardy enough to explore the depths of this Dark Beer will be rewarded with decadent flavors of cinderous coffee, rustic caramel, and bittersweet chocolate with traces of toasted hazelnut. Take the plunge into Oort’s shadows, and a shot of top-shelf bourbon quickly moves into woody licorice from spending 12 months in bourbon barrels.

Pop the top on the bottle, pour out the onyx colored liquid, and let your mind wander while waves of rich, roasty malt character envelop the senses.

Or, put on a vigorating space documentary and just chill out to some pretty pictures of galaxies and stars! However you want to experience Barrel Aged Oort, there’s no doubt its 11% ABV makes it easy to have a good time.

With Tavour, it's easy to beer it forward! Just head over to Tavour.com/gifts to send a gift box or gift card to the craft beer lover in your life. Cheers!

Nose is roasty & earthy, dissipating head w/nice lacing. Mouthfeel is creamy, not overly thick. More pronounced roasted coffee on palate, w/bittersweet chocolate, oak & bourbon. Dank earthy notes from Cascade hops. It’s roasty & robust, not a sweet stout.

Fantastic stout. Get the bourbon and chocolate notes and the abv doesn’t overpower the flavors.

While a few reviewers didn’t think this beer was anything to write home about, I can say that this beer was very nice. A little thinner body than I would have liked, but the beer really started to shine as it warmed up a bit. A solid BBA stout IMHO.

This is exactly the kind of Barrel Aged Stout I enjoy. You can taste the malty flavor with a good amount of caramel. Not a coffee fan and this doesn’t taste like it at all. Reminds me of the Rusty Nail. Not as flavorful but a good smooth Stout that hits the right spot.

Barrel aging improved what I would call a mediocre stout. This one you definitely need to have in a glass and allow it to warm a bit before you judge.

Nice barrel flavor. However, the good looking dark pour belies the thin and watered down taste. If you’re a stout fan, it’s definitely worth a try.

Fine barrel-aged imperial stout. More hops than your standard one made it stand out a tad bit. Quite bitter vibes from chocolate and hops. Barrel presence was sufficient. It was OK to try once but probably wouldn't go out of my way to try again.

this had everything i wanted in an imperial stout. there were notes of chocolate, coffee but not too harsh, a little bit of nut flavor almost a hazelnut taste. the alcohol was there but not predominant. an excellent excellent beer for a cool night
