A Note on This Beer
[On our Sour Scale, this beer ranks 2 out of 5: Tart & Tingly.]
I’ve been searching high and low for the perfect beer to bring to my next The Office trivia night, and I think I’ve finally found it. It’s a brew that even the assistant (to the) regional manager would crush: today’s Beet & Lime Dyad Sour Ale!
That’s because the Colorado craft masters at New Image Brewing added a Dwight Schrute-approved dose of red beets and zesty lime! This small-batch brew is part of their Dyad Sour series, with fermented kombucha as the base.
Now I gotta admit, I was skeptical about kombucha AND beets in my brew — I always thought both were for the health nuts and hippies! But since New Image is one of the few breweries we know using kombucha in their beers, I had to give it a try and see what the hype was all about.
Call me a convert, because the ‘bucha really adds a special kind of tangy funk and champagne-like dryness to every sip. Combine that flavorful funkiness with the earthy profile of beets and a splash of zesty lime juice, and you’ve got a 7.5% ABV Sour refresher that will outshine everything else in your fridge!
It’s no wonder that HopCulture called New Image one of the Colorado Breweries Flying Under the Radar, writing that these “new school brewers [are] honing their craft and producing exceptional beer.”
And with zany flavor combinations like today’s Beet & Lime Dyad Sour in their arsenal, we don’t expect their craft innovations will be a Rocky Mountain secret much longer!
Bring this funked-up sipper to your next get-together with friends, and it’s sure to be a conversation starter. Or better yet, crush it while rewatching The Office, and the party will be right on your couch.
This beer is too new for ratings!
