Did you know the Radler was invented in 1922 by Franz Kugel, a Bavarian tavern owner? 

Legend has it that a group of cyclists tumbled into his bar, thirsty and exhausted. He knew his stash was running low, so, in a stroke of genius, he added sparkling lemonade to his beer kegs. He named it after the German word for “cyclist” and — voilà! The Radler was born. 

Today, the award-winning* team at Urban Chestnut — whose brewmaster hails from Bavaria — invites you to quench your thirst with their own spin on the German classic: Big Shark Tangerine Radler. 

To craft it, they partnered with their buddies at nearby Big Shark Bicycle Co. Together, they blended a Pale Lager with their house-made tangerine soda. Each sip is reminiscent of a scoop of tangy orange sorbet, but with a pleasant crispness and a hint of freshly baked bread.

You don’t have to be a cyclist to enjoy this beer. But it’s so easy-drinking, you can down can after can and still bike, hike, or climb to wherever your adventure takes you!
