A Note on This Beer
When Martin House Brewing announced the release of today’s Blackbird Imperial Blackberry Sour Ale online, it was suddenly the Texan public’s #1 interest.
They called up friends and family to gather at the brewery. They posted ISOs in every comment hoping for some of that Texas hospitality. And they feverishly tracked down any bottleshops lucky enough to carry the brand new seasonal release.
One Sour fiend even asked Martin House straight-up when Tavour would be getting some. And of course, Martin House rightly kept him in suspense. Well, @d_smithh_35, you can stop holding your breath!
Today we’re giving you exclusive access to the 9.2% ABV Imperial Blackberry Sour that will be the envy of every Sour fan in the neighborhood.
The super-tart, fruited Sour is brewed with more than 10lbs of fresh blackberries per barrel, roughly 3 times more fruit than most Sours. This much fruit imbues the deep-purple pour with aromas of bold blackberry and sour funk. The jammy liquid deceptively masks the huge ABV in juicy flavors of ripe cherries and sweet tree-fruit, followed by a strong blackberry pucker. A lingering sweetness then complements the acidic finish.
Fans of the US Open Beer Cup Award-winning brewery are begging Martin House to keep Blackbird on tap year-round, but Martin House won’t budge. That means, short of an impromptu trip to Fort Worth right now, this is your only opportunity to taste one of Texas’ favorite fruited Sours.
