A Note on This Beer
Today’s tart Saison proves that Cabernet Sauvignon and Tempranillo grapes aren’t just for wine! Here’s what the uber-beer-geeks over at The Full Pint have to say about it:
“Blurred CsT is a work of art that highlights the endless potential of Sour Ale and wine fusion.”
Couldn’t have said it better myself!
This barrel-aged beauty combines all the fruity depths of wine grapes with the lemony tang, effervescent bubbles, and crisp drinkability of a classic Saison. It has rich folds of cherry, mild tannins, and a dark-fruit complexity that (to me, at least) is more reminiscent of Pinot Noir than Cabernet. It’s positively delightful!
And that doesn’t surprise me a bit, because this delicious sip comes from Berkeley’s The Rare Barrel. These oak-aging sour specialists recently made Paste Mag’s list of The 50 Best Breweries of the Last Decade!
We try to share their beers whenever we get the chance, and you guys have never rated any beer from The Rare Barrel less than 4.0 on Tavour. But, the batches are so small that they always vanish in a hurry.
If you haven’t tried a brew from this crew yet, it’s time to grab a bottle of Blurred CsT and find out what your fellow Tavour members already know: The Rare Barrel’s brews are a must-taste for any Sour Ale fan.
