A Note on This Beer
Georgetown’s GABF gold medal-winning brews pour like Niagara Falls from taps in Seattle's bars and restaurants. Practically every local has plenty of fond memories associated with the classic, PNW-based crew!
When it comes to today’s Bob’s Brown Ale, those nostalgic feelings are even more heart warming. The dexterous brewers partnered with the Ronald Mcdonald House Charities — an organization on a mission to provide a "home away from home" for Children's Hospital patients and families.
On top of donating 100% of the proceeds to RMH, they packed Bob’s Brown with Centennial, Crystal, Cascade, and Sabro Hops, alongside heaps of roasted and chocolate malts.
The flavor is reminiscent of a Coffee Nut Torte, with a mouthfeel softer than freshly fallen snow. Notes of espresso, roasted almonds, sweet caramel, and bakers chocolate get cozy with refreshing hints of pine.
The easygoing ABV and mellow flavor profile help make it a welcome pairing for any situation: shoveling snow, watching your favorite NFL team, or celebrating the end of a long work day!
Not to mention, Georgetown describes Bob’s Brown as “arguably one of our most important and popular beers.” It’s also one of their most limited. It only comes out once a year!
Translation: we don’t have much, and if you miss out, you’ll have to wait until 2021 to snag more!
*A message from Georgetown: “Charles ‘Bob’ Hirsch (1984-2005) is our inspiration for Bob’s Brown Ale, having fought cancer for half of his 21 years. We brew this beer in his memory and donate 100% of our proceeds to Ronald McDonald House Charities. Bob’s mom, Sue, chose RMHC as the recipient charity for our donation, saying, ‘They put us up for treatment every time we came in from Alaska.’” Georgetown’s owner, Manny Chao, first became friends with Bob in 1999, as his camp counselor.
