A Note on This Beer

When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade. When you bob for a bushel of apples, you make a pie. And when your buddies at the nearby bakery give you a bunch of pies, you…make a PIEstry Stout?

That’s what the crew at Lumberbeard did!

Bobbing for Apples tastes a little like you’re biting into a crisp fruit (underwater or otherwise) and a LOT like a forkful America’s favorite pie. That’s because the Lumberbeard team brewed it with freshly-baked salted caramel apple pies!

Its dark body swirls with flavors of cinnamon-coated apples and gooey caramel balanced by the warm and bready crust. Mixed with the base brew’s subtle notes of dark chocolate and warm vanilla, every 11% ABV sip is like dessert in a glass — but not cloyingly sweet!

You can put down your forks. We’re serving up pie in a glass!

Not as described, very little flavor, dry and somewhat bitter. Would not buy again, probably won’t drink the rest of the ones I bought. Got a headache and haven’t finished the first one 👎

I was really looking forward to this beer as its my first Pie/Pastry Stout and it was underwhelming. I was expecting more apple undertones or even a sweet bite to it. It just tasted like a decent general stout. Nothing special so I knocked stars.

Terrible representation of a stout and lacks any flavor, heavily bitter.

Caramel? No. Apple, yes, but only as an aftertaste. Pretty disappointed in this one — not as a stout, but for how it was described. I expected syrupy caramel sweetness, and this isn’t a bad stout, but it’s way too bitter for “Stout - Pie/Pastry”. Nah.

None of the flavors really come through. Rather sour in taste. Very disappointed.

if you told me to expect a coffee stout, I’d be less disappointed. flavor is ok but nowhere near what was promised.

is this mislabeled or something? not a hint of sweetness or apple to this. Tastes like a bitter stout. Was looking forward to this one, but it’s a huge disappointment

I think this was an experiment to see if a satisfying label could trick minds into believing it’s a good beer. If that was the case, it did not work with me. This is by far the worst stout I have ever tasted. I should charge Tavour for this one. It was so bad I threw away my stout mug after tasting it.

I wanted to like this one more than I do. The apple pie flavor started off pretty good but soon turned into an indescribable strange aftertaste.

This is a stout. Not even a pastry stout. Unfortunately I found no apples when I bobbed.

Did not like. It was very bitter for a dark beer. I don't like IPA's and this tasted like a dark one for me. I didn't get any apple or pastry from this.

A solid, boozy, albeit bitter and unusually tasting stout. I personally could not pick up on any of the caramel, cinnamon, or apple pie notes which were advertised as adjuncts, and so was slightly disappointed. Overall, it wasn’t terrible, but neither was it something which stood out as remarkable.

it was much more bitter than I expected. While I did t aste some of the flavors mentioned here, the bitterness overshadowed them.

Smells like apples. Tastes somewhat like apples. Yep, it’s pretty much an Apple Pie stout. Mostly. I enjoyed it.

This beer is labeled to try and hide the off flavor Acetaldehyde as apple pie. Nothing pie like about this. Just bad beer in disguise.

Didn’t taste the advertised flavors. Was bitter. Is not sweet and should not be called “pastry.” This is an example of why I am buying less beer here, the advertising often is not faithful to the experience. I took a few sips and then poured it down the drain.

This one's impressive. Not a hint of cinnamon, apple, caramel, or anything you might find in an apple pie. Not only the worst beer I've tasted, nor the worst drink I've tasted, but hands down the worst thing I've ever tasted. My most accurate flavor description would be earwax drowned in vomit. Impressively awful.
