About This Beer
This is the 2017 vintage of Fremont’s Bourbon Barrel-Aged Dark Star: Coffee Edition!
Seattle’s Fremont crew crafted it by blending Stout barrel-aged 8, 12, and 18 months in twelve-year-old Kentucky bourbon barrels. Then, they complemented its opulent barrel-aging notes with coffee.
Extensive cellaring only added to the complexity, mellowing the 13.1% ABV into liquid velvet and richening the brew’s oaky, dark-chocolate depths.
Tasting Notes
Each impossibly smooth and full sip cascades with rich notes of creamy dark cocoa, roasty espresso, and sweet toffee before easing into a mocha-kissed whiskey finish.
