A Note on This Beer
I just watched a video of an enormous bearded dude utterly destroying cans of Coors, Busch, and Bud with a freakin’ broadsword. And I gotta say, it warmed my heart.
If you want to check it out, just find Heathen Brewing on social media. Or better yet, head to their Vancouver, Washington brewpub, order yourself a bottle or two of today’s award-winning Bourbon Barrel-Aged Highland Charge Scotch Ale, and ask for Danny.
He’s the operations manager down there, and if you’re really lucky (and you buy him a couple rounds) he might let you chop some stuff with his awesome sword.
And after a few pints of BBA Highland Charge, you’ll definitely be up for some swordplay. This 11% ABV brew is maybe the most badass beer these burly brewers make, and it’s got Gold medals from the North American Brewers Association and the Washington Beer Awards to prove it.
After slugging down a pint, I feel like I could slash my way through a whole pallet of Milwaukee's Best. It’s straight up badassery in a bottle. I didn’t even make that up, that’s how the brewers actually describe it.
Pour BBA Highland Charge into the helmet of a vanquished enemy and revel in its bold aromas of molasses and toffee. Take a big swig and let its flavors of dried black cherries, dates, and caramel swarm across your palate. Marvel at its warm Bourbon and oaky vanilla finish before taking another gulp.
If you can’t make it out to Washington to hack up Macro Lagers with Danny, we can hook you up with a couple bottles of BBA Highland Charge right here on Tavour. Just don’t be surprised if it makes you want to slice through some crappy cans.
FYI: I just checked Amazon and you can get a broadsword for less than 40 bucks.
