A Note on This Beer

Listen up, all you Breaking Bad fans! Pondaseta Brewing is like the Heisenberg of craft — all of their beers are expertly made and highly sought-after.

And trust me, you’re gonna want to dip into today’s stash of Breaking Berry — this Sour positively brims with heaps of real, succulent strawberry and earthy blueberry!

Each luscious sip overflows with the nectar of bright, zesty strawberries and the tang of sour funk. There's a hint of fresh bread in the middle, and the sweet taste of blueberries rises up on the finish. You could drink it to wash down your buckets of fried chicken from Los Pollos Hermanos — just don’t tell Gus you know his secret.

But, unlike Breaking Bad, which you can easily stream whenever the mood strikes, you won’t find Pondaseta’s crave-worthy brews outside of Texas. In fact, we’ve managed to snag the only cans that left the Lone Star State!

Better call Saul — and all your other Sour-lovin’ buddies — and tell ‘em they’d better not sleep on our 20 case stash!

Tastes like a malt liquor with a hint of blueberries, not bad, but not what I was expecting

I was excited for this one, but for a beer called Breaking Berry I was surprised when I popped the top, that there wasn’t more of a berry smell. In fact, there was virtually no smell. After taking the first sip I understood why. The berry taste is so light it’s almost like, as another reviewer stated, a berry flavored Coors Light. It lifts off the tongue so fast you don’t even know if you actually took a drink. I had high expectations for this one and unfortunately it didn’t come close to meeting them.

16 oz. can. Deep crimson color. Aroma has saline, mild berry. Mild berry lasts through out the sip but I can’t say either berry is distinct. The salinity is low but here. Lightly tart and not sweet.

My close associate put it best when he said it taste like Gatorade with not enough mix in it. It is very drinkable, but not as much berry flavor as I expected. I was excited for this one and it’s OK but not great.

I love the light crispness here. not a "fruited sour" in my mind but a nice fruit lager.
