A Note on This Beer
I have a bad habit of skipping breakfast.
I stay all cozy in bed until the last possible millisecond, then run around like crazy getting ready for the day. I’m usually still pulling on my pants while hopping to the door with untied shoes!
If I’m lucky, I’ll have just enough time to snag a sip of coffee and a granola bar on my way out.
Turns out, the brewers at North Carolina’s HopFly aren’t much different. They say today’s Brewer’s Breakfast Imperial Stout is “a tribute to the brewers who have started their mornings with a delicious Pearson’s Nut Roll and coffee while brewing.”
A Pearson’s Nut Roll is a candy bar with a creamy nougat center surrounded in a layer of caramel, then covered with salted peanuts. Only, unlike today’s luscious peanut butter, coffee, and caramel-packed Stout, it doesn’t come with an extra layer of mocha-ey goodness, or a boozy 11% ABV!
And, maybe the coffee is flowing faster than the ABV, but I do feel perked up after a sip. Showing up at the office with this rich sipper instead of a candy bar is probably a no-go, but you can sure kick off weekend mornings with this layered treat!
Which I bet is exactly what fans like @Dave B. do:
“Wow! Yet another Hopfly gem. These guys are just incredible and incapable of making a bad beer. This is a melted Snickers bar with a splash of coffee. Freakin’ great beer.”
HopFly’s brews rarely stray beyond select bottleshops in the Tar Heel state. Now’s the time to get in on this dark beer breakfast candy!
