A Note on This Beer
When Yakima Valley farmers first introduced BRU-1 to the brewing community last year, they referred to it as “the pineapple splash hop.”
All it takes is one sip of today’s BRU’D with Mosaic Pale Ale, to realize that’s spot on! Cypress Brewing double dry-hopped this hazy quencher with BRU-1 for big, bold pineapple splashes!
They also gave it a backing of Mosaic Hops to coax out notes of ripe mango and tangerine and make the pineapple flavors shine even brighter. It drinks like a glass of fresh-squeezed tropical fruit punch.
And if you want to impress your friends while you’re sipping, here’s some hop knowledge worth dropping — the real thing that elevates BRU-1 is its very high myrcene oil content. This stuff is largely responsible for aromas and can greatly enhance the flavors. It’s also an essential oil that helps you sleep and slows down skin aging. Neat!
BRU-1 is still pretty uncommon in Pale Ales, though, so today’s sipper is like a sneak preview into the future of hoppy beers.
Though if you want a taste, now’s the time to stock up — this limited creation isn’t leaving the Garden State except through Tavour!
Online magazine, Best of NJ, praises Cypress Brewing for crafting “forward-thinking beers.”
