A Note on This Beer

Before making an important purchase, it’s vital to ask yourself the big questions:

  1. Is it high quality?
  2. When would I use it?
  3. Is it too good to walk away from?

So, how does Main & Mill Brewing’s Buyer’s Remorse Barrel-Aged Barleywine fair against this triad?

Is it high quality? Absolutely! The Brewers at Main & Mill crafted this Barleywine with a blend of three malts to create a base swirling with flavors of sweet fig and date. Then, they let it slumber in Tawny Port and Bourbon Barrels for 20 months to bring out rich notes of toffee and caramel, juicy raisins, and bright woody oak.

When would I use it? With a hearty 12% ABV, this brew would make a fantastic sipper for those chilly evenings after a long day of work. A quick uncap, a deep inhale of its luscious dark fruit aromas, and you’re ready to unwind.

Is it too good to walk away from? The brewers at Main & Mill are always adjusting recipes to uncover new flavor outcomes. Sure, there will be another batch of this brew a year from now (and no sooner) but will it have the same delectable balance of caramel-coated fig flavors? You’d have to try this one first to find out.

This Barleywine easily earns three yays — the real challenge will be getting your hands on this brew before Tavour’s tiny 192 bottle stash disappears!

With Tavour, it's easy to beer it forward! Just head over to Tavour.com/gifts to send a gift box or gift card to the craft beer lover in your life. Cheers!

No buyer’s remorse here. At 12% it is not overly heavy and is easily drinkable. With a good barleywine base the aging in port barrels gives a great flavor addition reminding me of a good port. There is a flash of sweetness that is then balanced by a bourbon follow. Very good. Wish I had a second on hand to enjoy.

Not worth the price at all! It’s an entry level barley wine with mediocre tasting notes

Improved significantly as it warms (as expected). Port dominates the bourbon.

Light raisin taste at the start. Nice blend that warms you up. Drink with a friend since the bottle is big.
