A Note on This Beer
Did you know that cicadas are a lot like zombies?
Adult cicadas lay their eggs in tree branches. The baby cicadas — called nymphs — hatch, fall to the ground, and burrow into the soil. Then, 17 years later, they rise from the earth like red-eyed, six legged zombies, ready to take over the world!
In fact, if you happen to live in certain states, you can witness the highly anticipated Brood X of cicadas emerging this May! But if you don’t, you can still celebrate their arrival with a can of Cicada Maibock from True Respite.
The brewers crafted this clean, refreshing Lager with Noble Hops, for notes of toasted bread and a whisper of earthy spice. Waves of honey-like sweetness swim throughout, and the finish is thirst-quenching and crisp.
It’s supremely crushable, so you can sip can after can under the cloudless May sky, while watching those mysterious insects rising from the dirt.
Or, you can drink it indoors, far away from any creepy (but admittedly cool) zombie bugs.
Cicada is part of True Respite’s Animal Lager series, a celebration of the wildlife they see near the brewery every day! The can features the work of local artist Ashley Hauck.
