A Note on This Beer
Ever since they released it last year, I’ve had a six-pack-sized spot in my fridge carved out specifically for Fort George’s City of Dreams Hazy Pale Ale.
It’s got everything I could possibly want in an everyday drinker. A juicy array of flavors from Valencia orange to dank melon with a slight hop spice to round things out. A whole fruit basket of NE-style panache crammed into a lean body with a satisfying crispness. An easy-going 5.5% ABV and a soft, pillowy mouthfeel that turns up the drinkability. In fact, sometimes I think this brew might be too crushable, if there is such a thing.
I’m not the only Pacific Northwest craft fan who vouches for City of Dreams: even the extremely opinionated geeks on the Beer Tasting Seattle online forum can’t get enough. It routinely pops up on threads like “Best Hazy/NE-style on the West Coast” and “What is your ‘go-to’ PNW beer.” One member even ranked it above one of the most hyped hoppy brews to sell out in the region: “City of Dreams > Holy Mountain ‘17 Astral Projection.”
And if this glowing reception from hop-crazed beer drinkers in the Northwest isn’t enough, check out Paste Mag. In this year’s blind tasting, they ranked City of Dreams the #16 Pale Ale in the Country, beating out giants like Tree House, Firestone Walker, and Three Floyds!
It’s no secret: I get to taste a lot of amazing beers from all over the country. But I really get excited to drink local brews like City of Dreams. This is exactly why I started Tavour — to share beers from awesome breweries like Fort George that can’t usually be enjoyed outside the Pacific Northwest.
