About This Beer
The term ‘liquid gold’ gets bandied about a lot, but nothing encapsulates the phrase more than Smog City’s Coffee Porter. That’s because the brew combines java, beer, and a GABF gold medal!
That’s right, the craft crew won the illustrious prize with a stunning libation doused in three pounds of fresh, locally-roasted coffee per barrel!
Tasting Notes
The pitch-black pour unleashes a bouquet of cafe-worthy, freshly-pulled espresso aromas. Cozy sips follow with layers of toasted malt for smooth baker’s chocolate nuances, rounding the bitter edges into one creamy, cafe-worthy concoction. The result is like sipping an iced, triple-shot mocha!

The first one tasted like garbage, the second one was incredible and worth every penny. I'll blame my mood because I loved the second bottle.

Great stuff. Not sweet- a compliment. Would love to see what other dark stuff they've got.

Strong coffee taste, but smooth. Good beer.

Should be higher rated here! As bottle description notes, this is a coffee beer, not a beer with coffee. And it shows. Like a spiked cold brew. Not getting much chocolate, though, but it doesn't need it.

Very espresso, very porter, very delicious. The 12 oz went down in 5 minutes.

Tastes and smells like a shot of espresso. Like sucking on a raw coffee bean. No chocolate. Weird aftertaste.

Nice coffee flavors, not too thick. Better colder.

The best coffee porter I've ever had. Love the bold coffee taste. Can't even tell its alcoholic! Wouldn't recommend for noncoffee lovers, its definitely something only people who love coffee would enjoy, but luckily I love coffee so it was amazing!!

Barely translucent cola brown color. Large, firm tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, fresh brewed coffee and cacao powder. Lovely bittersweet essence of dark roasted coffee and chocolate malt. Soft on palate. The roasted malt and coffee characteristics are completely merged to produce a singular complexity of flavor. My two favorite beverages are married into one. Absolute heaven.
