A Note on This Beer
“One Hop to Rule them All!” — that’s how Beer Connoisseur described Nelson Sauvin Hops.
They say this bold hop runs “from tropical notes of lychee and mango to fresh crushed gooseberries and spicy black pepper.” But they also issued a warning: “Hop lovers can be dazzled, but the unsuspecting drinker may find its juicy bouquet overwhelming.”
Now, I don’t think any of you hazeheads out there in the Tavour-iverse are in danger of being overwhelmed — when it comes to hops, most of you believe that more is better. But it certainly takes a talented team of brewers to coax the full array of flavors out of Nelson.
Like Ex Novo — the multi-time Best of Craft Beer and Oregon Beer Award-winners with breweries in Portland and New Mexico.
They used a heaping pile of Nelson Sauvin Hops in today’s Costume Party Hazy IPA, along with additions of Citra and Mosaic to round out the flavors. But take a sip, and it’s all about Nelson.
Sure, you’ll find plenty of juicy orange and mixed berry flavors, but that’s just to elevate the gush of tropical mango, ripe pineapple, crisp lychee, and hints of resinous pine. You’ll even find that trademark tiny sprinkle of black pepper on the finish!
So, if you’re ready to tangle with the hop that rules them all, grab a few cans of Costume Party. You don’t have to dress up to drink it, but it can’t hurt.
This beer is too new for ratings!
