A Note on This Beer
The first thing you need to know about Currantly Noir Aged in Bourbon Barrels #4 is that we’ve got less than 120 bottles of it. Once that’s gone, there is no more. Possibly ever.
The second this is that this black currant infused brew tastes like a tart medley of dried dates and candied figs, drizzled with a caramel-bourbon reduction.
As @Sean S. on Untappd put it: “Never had a Sour with so much bourbon present, tastes great. Dark fruit, sour, bourbon.”
If that sounds unusual, it’s because it is. If it also sounds delicious, it’s because it is. None of which should come as a surprise if you’re familiar with California’s Dionysus Brewing. The deliciously unusual is exactly what we expect from this crew!
Even the Los Angeles Times called Dionysus a brewery worth leaving L.A. for, saying their Sour Beers are “where the brewery truly shines.”
If you want to taste for yourself, grab a bottle of Currantly Noir. And forget leaving the City of Angels — you don’t even have to leave your couch.
