A Note on This Beer
For Dead Man’s Game, the barrel-aging fiends at Lost Abbey blended their Bourbon Barrel-Aged and Rum Barrel-Aged versions of Angel’s Share with a Bourbon-Barrel Aged edition of their highly acclaimed Judgment Day Quad. The result is Lost Abbey’s 14% ABV sinister answer to a Tropical Wisemen shot -- except substituting Tequila with a double dose of oak Bourbon excellence.
With a 4.15 score on Untappd, Dead Man’s Game has already joined the ranks of Lost Abbey’s other Belgian treasures. The distinct influences from the different liquors lead you on a mysterious and challenging flavor expedition: Bourbon lends vanilla-oakiness, and Rum brings smooth and subtle coconut.
Pouring as black as the sea’s darkest depths, Dead Man’s Game smells of dates, raisins and cherries drenched in a boozy swell. The Quad’s rich malts provide a stable foundation for the intense alcohol-heavy notes from each barrel, and a hint of sweetness keeps your palate from capsizing completely.
Lost Abbey is one of the West Coast’s best barrel-aging crafters, and this intense blended brew demonstrates their expertise. Attempting to recreate this wicked concoction wouldn’t only be dangerous – you’d be playing a Dead Man’s Game.
