About This Beer
To celebrate their 10,000 batch of beer, Firestone Walker started by brewing their flagship Double Barrel Ale at double strength — a whopping 12.3% ABV. Then they let it luxuriate in the depths of 11-year Old Fitzgerald wheated bourbon barrels for a year, accentuating its rich complexity.
Tasting Notes
Every sip is a smooth, celebratory toast to craft. Toffee and caramel nuances swirl into baking spice tones, capturing the essence of pecan pie soaked in whiskey. Sweet notes of dried fig play tug-of-war with bitterness, finishing in a draw as cocoa-covered oak grounds the gulp with a dash of earthiness.

I didn’t know what to expect from this one, but FW’s barrel aging strikes again. Sort of sweet, sort of Belgian-y and sort of boozy, this one wrangles a ton of flavors but works.
