A Note on This Beer

Once, while traveling through India, a monkey pulled my pants down and stole my passionfruit. True story.

That’s why I’m so wary about today’s Double Maceration: Passion Fruit Blueberry. The crew at New Image loaded it with over 100 lbs of real fruit per barrel — that’s the equivalent of 1.5 passionfruits and a big handful of blueberries in every single can!

In other words, cracking open this smoothie-thick Sour Ale is basically like ringing a monkey dinner bell. Those thieving hairballs could never resist a brew this fruity!

Fortunately, there aren’t many monkeys around my neighborhood, but my buddies are all too happy to step in and take over for them. I’m considering putting a padlock on my beer fridge. That’s the only way to ensure the beautifully balanced flavors of tropical passionfruit and tangy blueberry will be there when I’m ready to chug them down.

You probably don’t have to worry about monkeys where you live, but I’ll bet you have plenty of friends who would be stoked to snag a sip of this brew. If you manage to get yourself a few cans, keep a close eye on them!

No gimmicks; just a nicely tart, clean, crisp, fruit forward sour. The berry notes are on the forefront and carry throughout into the finish. Nicely tart, but not overly so. A hint of sweetness. Sweetness could have been cranked just a smidgen to make this an even better and more balanced sour. This is a very solid sour ale.
