About This Beer
To craft this obsidian elixir, the brewers started with their signature Double Dark Ale that falls somewhere between a Barleywine and Imperial Stout. Then they aged it for 37 months in a mix of Willett rye whiskey and Calumet Farm bourbon barrels before finishing it on cacao nibs and coffee for a mad tea party… er, mad café party of sumptuous flavors.
Tasting Notes
Anticipate rich dark chocolate tones mingling with caramelly espresso and woody vanilla on every thick swig like a whiskey kissed mocha. Look for nuances of chewy date, java, and barrel spice swirling underneath, further obscuring that enormous ABV.
