A Note on This Beer
Ever tried Kohatu Hops? Spoiler alert: they’re super tasty.
If you haven’t heard of New Zealand Kohatu Hops, don’t fret — we rarely see them on Tavour! The tropical fruit-forward hop varietal came out in 2011, but they’ve only recently become more popular among US brewers.
To craft today’s Echo In The Abyss, TrimTab double dry hopped the beer with heaps of Kohatu and Strata Hops. The 7.5% ABV result is beyond delectable.
At the forefront, Kohatu Hops burst with notes of ripe peach, tart grapefruit, and crushed pine needles. On the backend, Strata Hops provide refreshing blasts of fresh-squeezed OJ, and bright, mixed berry notes.
It’s no surprise that a brewery like TrimTab would coax such awesome flavors out of these hops. Hop Culture listed this crew among the Top 10 in the Country in 2019, and Forbes says they “define what ‘southern beer’ looks like!”
Before you crack open a can of their Echo In The Abyss, we recommend calling over a few craft buddies for a brew share. Odds are they probably haven’t had too many IPAs with Kohatu Hops before, and you’ll want to see their faces when they do!
