A Note on This Beer

What’s up hopheads? Kevin here to drop some hop-knowledge on ya!

Did you know that between them, Washington and Oregon produce nearly 85% of all the hops grown in the United States? It’s true! So, of course brewers in the region are gonna know their way around some tasty cones!

That’s why I put together three of my very favorite IPAs from the top left corner of the country, so you can sample a few of the Northwest’s finest!

Here’s what’s in store:

Mosaic Crush - Reuben’s Brews, WA - 7% ABV - 1 x 16oz Can

Seattle’s own Reuben’s Brews has won more awards than any other brewery in craft soaked Washington State. If you want to know why, just grab a can of Mosaic Crush — any crew that can extract this much flavor from 100% Mosaic Hops deserves a little bling for the trophy case!

Every sip overflows with huge citrus flavors splashing alongside hints of juicy mango, dank melon, and snappy green grape. Nuances of pithy grapefruit collide with guava notes on the ludicrously smooth finish for a sip that practically begs you to keep coming back.

Electric Surfboard - Fort George Brewing, OR - 9% ABV - 1 x 16oz Can

Whenever I drive down to Oregon, I always take the long route along the coast just so I can go through the little town of Astoria. Partly because it’s where they filmed “The Goonies,” but mostly so I can stock up on consistently excellent brews at Fort George’s taproom.

Beers like Electric Surfboard! They loaded this one with massive amounts of Apollo, Ekuanot, Mosaic, and Simcoe hops for gushing flavors of peach and apricot that crash into notes of lychee, grapefruit, and mango. A touch of resin on the impossibly smooth finish keeps things balanced, and might also make you forget about the massive 9% ABV. Careful with this one!

Wanderjack - Breakside Brewery, OR - 7.1% ABV - 1 x 16oz Can

Breakside has been a PNW craft institution ever since opening their doors back in 2010, and they're still going strong today! They took home a whopping 11 medals from the 2022 Oregon Beer Awards, along with ‘Top Large Brewery’ honors!

To get a taste of their glorious skills, look no further than Wanderjack. The brewers teamed up with the pals at Barley Brown’s for this West Coast-style collab. Together, they packed the brew with heaps of Strata, Mosaic, and Azacca Hops, along with a touch of Simcoe for a little dank on the finish. Look for towering grapefruit and melon flavors backed up with a bit of bitterness on the finish.

There you have it! A trio of PNW brews that highlight the region's hoppy prowess! Enjoy, just don’t be surprised if you find yourself planning a brewery hopping trip through the great northwest after sipping these suds.

Fruity hops with a touch of berry and resin. Leans West Coast DIPA with light to decent bitterness. Medium to light bodied with a light dry hop finish. 🇮🇱🇺🇸
