A Note on This Beer
Standard Brewing blew us away earlier this year with their lusciously smooth Enemy of the Sun Imperial Stout, aged for 15 months in Peated Westland Whiskey Barrels*.
The brew vanished in a day, and we’ve been missing it ever since. But, what we didn’t know at the time was that the Standard crew secretly kept the second half of that Imperial Stout batch at the brewery!
Introducing: Enemy of the Moon Imperial Stout.
This richly chocolatey, 11% ABV boozebomb napped for an additional 3 months in the barrels before the brewers blended it with another Stout (aged by itself for 3 months in Elijah Craig 10yr Bourbon Barrels). The result is a scrumptious Stout brimming with notes of German chocolate cake and cordial cherries!
We don’t know if Standard has any other Stouts quietly aging in their Seattle brewery, but we do know this: today’s decadent limited release is a must-sip for every dark beer aficionado.
Standard Brewing is decked in Washington Beer Awards and Best of Craft Beer Awards; Eater named them one of the city’s 12 Essential Breweries!
*Westland Distillery is renowned across the world! Their Peated Barrels have won 9 Gold Medals from prestigious contests like the NY International Spirits Competition and the Berlin International Spirits Competition.
