A Note on This Beer

The Pilsner style has endured all these centuries because it is uncomplicated; a crisp and refreshing dance of hops and malts. So, what happens when you purposely complicate things?

In the hands of skilled brewers like those at Modist and Cerebral, something magnificent!

Their Esoteric Eclecticism is a blend of German, New Zealand, and Italian-style Pilsners, double dry-hopped with hand-selected Citra, extra-potent Citra Cryo, Nelson Sauvin, and Simcoe Hops.

Then, the brewers aged it all in oak for whispers of woody vanilla amid the hops’ fruit notes.

Every sip of this Pilsner is a waltz of revitalizing complexity. Nuances of white grape and lemon zest ebb and flow with florals and earth. It’s all backed with malty breadiness and flaked oats in the base that keep the experience smooth and light on the tongue.

Move over, traditional Pilsners — looks like we’ve uncovered a modern classic!

Modist snagged “Most Innovative Brewery” at the MN Brewers Cup; Cerebral is stacked in U.S. Open Beer Competition Medals!

a lot of the time I hate dry hopped Pilsner because I think the use of modern hops takes away from the Pilsner, they end up tasting overly hopped and unbalanced. this Pilsner tasted like a classic Pilsner that was complimented and balanced with the modern hops in a beautiful way. semi fruity herbal and earthy with a solid Pilsner backbone.

Flaked oats let's gooo. The ddh is so good, light and fruity on top of a crackery light bready malt body. Has a solid mouthfeel, though. Nice and unfiltered.

6/11/21 interesting Pils. NZ, GER mash up. Bitterness meets tropical, grassy & bready.

While I appreciate the flavor the oak foeder imparts, the hop character is so close to IPA I think it deters from the quality of the Pilsner character. Still very tasty regardless.

an excellent Pilsner/IPA-ish concoction… the wood gives it a unique complexity not usually reserved for the styles. Damn I wish I had more…

Oak Caramel Pilsner. Low octane at grill-side… does the job.
