A Note on This Beer

100% New Zealand: This brew is dry-hopped with nothing but Nelson Sauvin and Motueka! Far Out Flavors: Every nectrous sip overflows with bold notes of tangy limeade and tangerine, crisp white grape, and ripe apricot.

Fun fact about the kiwi bird — it’s the only bird in the world with nostrils at the end of its beak, instead of on the top.

Fun fact about Flightless Wonder IPA — this is just the second time Foundation Brewing has released this crushable NZ-hopped Hazy. Last time, almost none of it left the Northeast!

We don’t think those New Englanders should get to hog ALL the drippy stonefruit and zippy lime flavors in this brew, so when we heard Foundation was ready to drop a new batch, we scooped up all we could!

That turned out to be just 40 cases.

Today, you don’t have to fly (or walk) to Maine to snag a taste of Flightless; you just have to beat all the other hazeheads to a can. This brew might not have wings that work, but it’ll still disappear in hurry!

Man, do I love Nelson hops! Tons of green grape, apple, lime and a hint of light citrus. The addition of oats and wheat give it a bit of extra body and soft mouth feel. Very good!

Flavor is definitely muted compared to many other IPAs out there, so if you are looking for hoppy this is not the beer. But the hint of lime and crisp finish was really enjoyable to me.

Very light lime flavor. Most of the flavor is apricot. Couldn't put my finger on the difference at first, but now that I know it's apricot it's obvious. Easy to drink.

Daily corona battle. Another day down edition. Super hazy, touch of green apple sucker with balanced earthiness. Super mellow and subtle flavors.

This beer was not a bad beer and I am a huge Nelson fan but not what I’ve come to expect from Foundation. With so many excellent offerings available expectations are admittedly high. The beer was thin on mouthfeel and there was a hop flavor that did not fall off the palate. It left a taste I didn’t appreciate hovering around. All that said there was some good things too and I didn’t have trouble dinking it all.
