A Note on This Beer

Today’s Fortunate Sun is an excellent example of why Dry-Hopped Saisons have become a major trend in modern craft.

Gooseberry and lemongrass notes from Hallertau Blanc and Mandarina Bavaria Hops mingle tastily with the Saison yeast’s tart citrus and fresh floral nuances. Every golden, complex mouthful of Fortunate Sun makes me feel like I’m basking in a ray of sunshine in a bright, blooming field.

Even here in rainy Washington State. There’s a reason local craft fans are turning their eyes South to Washougal. Logsdon Farmhouse Ales put this tiny town on the map with their expertly crafted sunny sippers!

I definitely recommend paying their taproom a visit sometime. It’s nestled right along the Columbia River and has an impressive array of fresh Farmhouse styles on tap. But for now, your taste of this local Pacific Northwest favorite is right here.

Just a heads up — we only have 40 cases of Fortunate Sun to go around!

Logdson is sitting on stacks of GABF and World Beer Cup medals!

Tavour strictly supports independent beer. Logsdon Farmhouse Ales is certified independent by the Brewers Association

Solid seems the hop doesn't marry well with this one!

Earthy with a little funk but the hop doesn’t pair all that well

Pours a hazy straw color with thin but lingering white head that leaves nice lacing on the glass. Smells of sunny citrus with a hint of phenols. Nice malty flavor with notes of grass. Hops give a pleasant lemon flavor. Bitterness is balanced. Beer is effervescent but not overly so. Dries out on the palate with just a touch of sweetness at the end.

Needed more funk and less bitterness, still a pretty good and refreshing beer

Awesome saison! The dry hopping was slightly aged but added a lil nice complexity to the overall saison.

Refreshing, citrusy saison with just the right amount of bitterness.

We had a gooseberry bush in our backyard when I was a kid. This beer takes me back to picking and eating those gooseberries in the fall. Tart, juicy, earthy and slightly sweet. Fantastic Saison!
