A Note on This Beer

When I was a kid, my grandma took me raspberry picking at a nearby farm every summer. We would embark in the wee hours of the morning and fill buckets with ripe raspberries to make her prized jam.

I’m not talking about that squeezable Smuckers jelly you get at the store — I mean thick, chunky jam made with actual fruit!

And today’s Frambozen Raspberry Lambic captures that same beloved jamminess. The brewers at pFriem loaded it with a whopping 3.2 lbs of fresh raspberries per gallon, right from Oregon’s Willamette Valley!

If that wasn’t enough fruity flavor to make your mouth water, the brewers aged the fruit in French Oak Barrels for nine months with a blend of one, two, and three-year-old Lambics, adding a vinous Cabernet-esque punch.

Aromas of freshly-baked raspberry pie emerge from the ruby-hued pour. Raspberry tartness mingles on the palate with delicate notes of lavender. The barrel-aging imparts a woody spice and vanilla notes that complement the fruit, while a surprising lemon tang from Brett appears in a tart, funky finish.

I hope this beer will hold a special place in your heart, just like Grandma’s homemade jam.

You can taste pFriem’s dedication in every sip of Frambozen — it even holds a spot in the Top 30 Beers of its Style in the World on Untappd!

Tart beginning with nice juicy flavor with a funky finish and gets smoother by the sip. Good but not great.

Smoky, earthy white wine combines with a relatively acidic raspberry to create a sharp but palatable and refreshing drink.
