A Note on This Beer

The folks at Anchorage Brewing reign supreme as the Alaskan gods of craft beer. When they whip up something new, the masses come flocking and have no choice but to indulge in the latest offering from the brewery’s divine glow!

In this case, “divine glow” means “killer dark beer” — it’s today’s ode to the Norse goddess of wealth and fortune, presented as this awe-some Bourbon Barrel Aged Baltic Porter!

Aged for a whole year in Woodford Reserve Bourbon barrels, the cold-lagered base gifts us a clean, crisp mouthfeel, with malts presenting light aromas of smoky char and dark fruits. The flavors are then rounded by the Bourbon barrels’ decadent notes of caramel and oak.

The brewers finished the beer on Madagascar vanilla beans, granting each full-bodied sip a creamy sensation as well as a swath of silky smooth flavor on the finish.

Early purveyors are already praising the flavors of this just-tapped limited release, exclaiming “Darn perfection!”

You Anchorage fanatics are familiar with the idyllic dark brews being magically crafted up North. If you’ve yet to try an Anchorage beer, you have to hurry! They’re the stuff of legend, and it’s a temptation of the fates to wait on grabbing a bottle for yourself!

Thick chewy mouthfeel with spot on notes of vanilla and delicious bourbon barrel. Delightful mild booziness. This brew is a meal all by itself, even better as it gets warm or room temp! Fantastic!

Not as impressive as I’ve come to expect from anchorage, I do wish they would revert back to barleywine and stouts of a true Bba nature and move away from the Missouri oak or non barrel

Disappointed by this one. Not nearly the level of balance and flavor that I've had from most Anchorage dark beers

The minerality and crispness of a Baltic Porter are present, but brought to another level with the DO WR barrel.

Pretty darn tasty, thick but not pohjala thick or regular anchorage stout thick, tons of vanilla and it tastes like it complements the barrel perfectly which is all over the nose and finish. Boooooozy chocolate bourbon love.

Obviously one of the best porters I’ve had. The Woodford Reserve barrel was a perfect choice and the very slight vanilla sweetness complements the beer beautifully.

ABC might be putting out the best BA wild ales and stouts available right now. Are they pricey, yes. Are they worth it, undoubtedly! Absolutely on point and beautifully refined as per usual. Rich dark fruit enveloped by oaken vanilla and smokey bourbon.
