A Note on This Beer
You go to Denny’s. You order French Toast.
Now, would you rather get a stack of eggy sugar-bread, or a pint of maple-drenched, cinnamon-saturated, vanilla-infused Stout deliciousness, complete with a solid 7.2% ABV?
Obviously the beer, right?!?
That’s just one example of why I’m proposing that, from here on out, we use the term ‘French Toast’ solely in reference to today’s French Toast Stout from Colorado’s WeldWerks.
If you score ANY beer from these multiple GABF and World Beer Cup award-winners, craft fans are bound to come a-knockin’. Because WeldWerks is one of the Top 5 highest-rated breweries in craft-soaked Colorado on BeerAdvocate!
And French Toast is truly tempting. The brewers loaded this decadent Stout up with a whopping full gallon of real maple syrup in every barrel! And that’s on top of cinnamon sticks, whole vanilla beans, and a touch of lactose for a rich, creamy mouthfeel. It actually tastes like a big bite of eggy fry-bread! Which is what I’m calling the breakfast food now.
Granted, it might be tough to get this name change to catch on. Mostly because Weld Werks brews almost never leave Colorado, so a lot of people haven’t even heard of what I now call the REAL French Toast.
But that’s cool, it’s bound to take off eventually. Especially after you invite your buddies over for French Toast on a Sunday morning. Once they get a taste of the delicious pints of Stout you set in front of them, they’ll never want eggy fry-bread again.
