A Note on This Beer

Jurassic Hops: Galaxy Hops! A ferocious ton of ‘em! Aroma-saurus: Like a bowl full of zesty oranges and mangoes with a spritz of grapefruit on top. Mega Flavors: Mandarin orange upfront, followed by juicy guava and a tasty hint of piney resin on the finish.

The brewers at Toppling Goliath say today’s Galaxy Dry Hop Pseudo Sue “dwarfs all other Pale Ales.”

That’s a mighty big statement coming from the brewers who craft some of the top-rated American Pale Ales in the world on BeerAdvocate! Their Pseudo Sue has hoards of followers all across the country!

But, the truth is that far fewer people have been able to snag a sip of the Galaxy Dry Hop rendition. This limited release, dino-themed Pale Ale only stomps around about once a year, if that.

Yet, it’s ranked in the Top 20 American Pale Ales on BeerAdvocate, and it has its own cultish fanbase:

  • “Oh for God sakes...this is ridiculously good…” @Russell B.

  • “Oh goodness, this is even better than the original, and I thought that rocked. Such juicy dino juice!” @Brit A.

  • Craft fan @David R. takes things further: “Top 10 beers of all time. Just delicious.”

Just don’t wait too long to grab a can, because this stuff is gonna vanish quicker than you can say ‘Double Dry-Hopped.’ And, it might be another year before we manage to get our hands on more.

Rated A world-class 96/100 on BeerAdvocate; 4.49 on Tavour; 4.27 on Untappd

One of the best variations. A hazy with a grapefruit bite that isn’t too sweet

Not a lot of fruit upfront - guava, hoppy, dank finish. Good

Grapefruit, off season. Pandemic flour hoarding, rookie sourdough, still working on your starter. The outstanding original, jumbled, clouded and confused.

However good I believed the OG to be, the galaxy hop addition just took it to a new level. TG strikes again.

These cans were already over a month old when I ordered them and by the time they got here you could tel the consumed product had fallen off from the intended product. Even the wife recognized this.

Less complexity, slightly band, bitter soapy aftertaste that you try to avoid with IPA

I’ve always been a huge fan of Toppling Goliath brews and this delicious pale continues that trend. Pseudo Sue is already top notch, but Galaxy dry hopped Pseudo Sue? Yes please! You like citrus and hoppy beers? This is your jam! I cracked this outside and downwind...and I smelled those amazing tropical scents immediately. Beautiful color, nice haze, and nice fluffy head. I couldn’t wait to dive into this, and once I did it was pure deliciousness. Oranges, mangoes, hoppy bitterness, fairly dry, some piney resin...this is NICE! I thoroughly enjoyed this...wish I had more.

Hate to do this to such a wonderful brewery and line of beer but it either didn’t age well during transportation or something didn’t go right in brewing. Guessing the former.

3.64/5 look: 4.75 | smell: 4.5 | taste: 3.25 | feel: 3.25 | overall: 3.25 Poured from a 16 ounce can into a tulip glass. Look- Pale gold, hazy, average head retention and lacing, white frothy head. Smell- Orange, grapefruit, mango, pineapple. Taste- Grapefruit, pineapple, extremely harsh herbal finish. Feel- Medium body, average carbonation, medium bitterness, very astringent harsh finish. Overall- Unfortunately the favor profile did not match the nose.

One of the best Pales I’ve had the pleasure of drinking, very crisp forward citrus notes of orange and lemon, with subtle mango to back it up. Very pleasant slight biscuity notes from the malt. Excellent color and mouthfeel was on point for a hazy pale. Slightly better than the original version IMO.

Daily corona battle. Love the PS series. Galaxy isn’t my fave hop, but it shines here. Dry hopped for plenty of earthy piney guava. Super dry finish.
