A Note on This Beer
I often hear people say they don’t like Belgian Witbiers because ”they’re all the same.”
I don’t even respond anymore. I just furrow my brow, pass them a glass of Ghosts, and watch their eyes fill with wonder.
The #1 response from those non-believers? “Well, this can’t be a Witbier, it doesn’t taste at all like a Blue Moon or a Shock Top!”
To which I roll my eyes and say, “Of course it’s a Witbier! Guess you’ve just never tried one from Anchorage.”
Taking a true-to-style Belgian Witbier base with hand-zested orange peel and coriander sourced from India, Anchorage ups the ante in two ways:
- They dry-hop with a dose of orange creamsicle-flavored Lotus Hops.
- He ages it for 3 months in Missouri Oak foeders.
Dry-hopping with Lotus Hops boosts the flavor factor by imbuing even more orangey goodness and adding waves of smooth vanilla. Then, aging the Wit in oak foeders for a few months gives Ghosts another blast of vanilla character with some subtle oaky spice.
If you and your own bar buddies think all Wits are made equal, give Ghosts a try and think again. With Anchorage pouring so much orange citrus juiciness and smooth vanilla in every sip, this is a Wit unlike any other.
