A Note on This Beer
Modist Brewing crafted today’s beer with Cara Cara navels, and — I gotta be honest — before today, I had no idea what that was.
Turns out, they’re red-fleshed oranges. But, unlike the more common, more bitter blood orange, they have a light pinkish-red internal hue and sweet strawberry or cherry-like undertone.
That explains why Half Believing Time tastes a bit like a creamsicle with deep, fruity complexities!
The flavor pioneers at Modist packed this brew with juicy apricot and tart cherry, complimenting the Cara Cara oranges’ sweet-tart, berry-like notes. Toasted coconut and almonds add rich candied nut nuances, while Madagascar vanilla beans and milk sugar give creamy contrast to the tangy fruit flavors.
Each sip is lusciously thick, like fresh pressed juice. And it’s just the slightest bit sour, making each swig of this fruit smoothie that much more refreshing.
If you’re like me and you’ve never had a Cara Cara orange, Half Believing Time is a delightfully juicy and complex way to give the citrus a shot! Just grab a couple of cans in case, like for me, one shot isn’t enough!
Modist was named Most Innovative Brewery at the Minnesota Brewers Cup Awards!
