A Note on This Beer
The Wild Ale kings at Colorado’s Black Project are virtuosos in the Sour business. They’ve been brewing with spontaneous yeast and local cultures since 2014 — and they won medals at GABF in their very first year!
Best of all, due to their use of microbes foraged in nature or captured via coolship, no two Black Project beers are ever the same!
That makes today’s Sour Ale, Helix, as unique as a snowflake — and a delicious example of their brewing expertise. It’s a juicy, herbaceous synergy of local Colorado raspberries and bright, zesty lemongrass. Each effervescent sip explodes with the marriage of sweet-tart berries and citrusy herbs, and finishes clean and bright as an autumn day.
This gorgeous, candy pink brew is an ideal companion for dinner on the patio, or lounging out in the backyard on a sunny afternoon.
The lucky few who’ve tried Helix are rating it a mind-blowing 4.34 on Untappd!
If you want to get a sip of this succulent Sour, you’ll want to act quickly — it’s tough to find Black Project’s brews outside of the Centennial State. And even if they DO brew it again someday, those wild cultures will ensure that each future creation is unique — but there will only ever be one original.
PorchDrinking calls Black Project “one of Colorado’s best in the field of sour & wild beers.”
