A Note on This Beer
There’s an episode of ‘Seinfeld’ where Elaine inspires a “muffin top” business. Eyebrows down now; this shop’s all about the sweet, freshly-baked tops of pastries!
As Elaine says, “It’s the best part. It’s crunchy, it’s explosive. It’s where the muffin breaks free of the pan and sort of does its own thing.”
I agree, and so do the folks at Missouri’s Main & Mill Brewing Co. Inspired by flavor-packed muffin tops, they stuffed their Hello Newman Porter full of blueberries, vanilla, toasted oats, and cinnamon!
The ‘Seinfeld’ folks eventually run into trouble trying to dispose of the unwanted muffin stumps, but Main & Mill’s Porter is all top, baby! Jammy blueberry greets the nose, followed by notes of baking spice and dark fruit on the tongue. Whispers of chocolate ganache and dry espresso flicker throughout, like sipping a mocha with your muffin.
Wrapped in a full, chewy body, every mouthful of Hello Newman is both decadent and comforting. The gently buzzing 8% ABV helps, too.
On that note, if you happen to be at odds with a U.S. postal worker named Newman, try sharing some sips. There’s enough pastry succulence here to mellow out just about anyone.
