About This Beer
To create it, the brewers started with a Belgian Dark Strong Ale base, then let it age for 13 months in both bourbon and first-fill tawny port barrels!
Tasting Notes
Every sip brings rich notes of cherries, candied plums, and warm clove spice. A steady stream of sticky caramel flavor from the bourbon mixes beautifully with the berry-like jamminess of the tawny port. With each mouthful, the oaky complexity seems to deepen, completely obscuring the enormous 12.6% ABV.

I usually love dark Belgians but thjs is like syrup. An interesting glass of beer but won’t likely get it again.

I like this. I like it a lot. Does it taste like a strong dark ale? No. It tastes more like an old ale or a barley wine. Cherry preserves, candied plum, a bit of Clove, a warm caramel base, and notes of bourbon goodness. I can savor this all night.

Oh yes. Deep, malty, sweet, and rich. Subtle port and bourbon barrel flavors; mild cherry. EXTREMELY good.

beautiful for a Belgian dark ale! syrupy thick, chewy, a soy sauce bit with bittersweet chocolate notes!

dark, not thick, Trappist
yeast gives that Belgian quad kind of underpinnings, but then the port barrel
aging stands up. balanced a with the warm bur on barrel aging too. really needed to warm up to open up. not many special notes on the Jose but the Finnish I had so much and 500ml is. a perfect serving to get to know the range.
