A Note on This Beer
“A wizard is never late . . . nor is he early. He arrives precisely when he means to.”
Just as that statement applies to Gandalf the Grey in “The Fellowship of the Ring,” it’s equally applicable to today’s magical brew: Hop Wizard from Odd13 Brewing! It made its debut in 2016 to thunderous applause from the craft community. Due to overwhelming demand from their taproom regulars, it’s back again to perform even more sensational wonders!
After one sip of this luscious, juice-drenched, pillowy-soft potion, I could tell this hoppy Pale Ale was well worth the wait.
Enchanted Altus Hops — formerly known as Experimental Hop 07270 — provide an alluringly dank and resinous aroma, while tropical Azacca Hops burst forth with juicy mango flavors. Our old favorites, Citra and Mosaic Hops, come along for the ride, bringing the taste of succulent lemons and sweet, overripe peaches.
A blend of 2-row malt, oats, rye, and honey malt provides a creamy, full-bodied mouthfeel, making this a Pale Ale that’s nothing short of supernatural. When I brought some home for my buddy to try, I practically had to wrestle it out of his hands. He just kept stroking it and murmuring, “My precious . . .”
Rather than fighting him again, I’m stocking up on extra cans of this spellbinding brew. Who knows when (or if) Odd13 will conjure it up again?
