A Note on This Beer

When Krieky Bones (Batch 5) first dropped back in 2018, it earned a Silver medal at the World Beer Cup.

That was before the brewery stashed it away in their carefully-controlled cellar for over two years! Now, it offers even more delicious complexity, with bolder notes of funk from the wild yeast.

If you’re a Wild Ale fan — or you’re looking for something to knock the socks right off a fan you know — look no further.

The wild yeast culture created a puckeringly tart base, which spent over a year in French Oak before the brewers fermented the beer a second time on a heap of Montmorency cherries.

Bright, fruity notes sing from the glowing red pour, along with hints of lemongrass, oak, and crusty bread. On the sip, tangy citrus precedes bubbly cherry notes, echoing through layers of graham cracker and hints of baking spice.

It’s like a tart cherry pie, magically transformed into a beer!

But, if you want a slice of this beer pie, you’ll have to act fast. Vintage bottles like this rarely leave Firestone Walker’s cellar, and they almost never show up outside of California.

Rated 96/100 “World Class” on BeerAdvocate — one of the Top 100 Wild Ales in the World!

This is my wife's favorite. Cherries balance the sourness and makes it the perfect acidity to have one after the other.

My goodness Krieky Bones is so delicious. The initial sour was satisfying and it gradually smooths out every following sip. I was very sad when it was all gone.

Wild and tart cherries abound throughout this gem here! Delightful and smooth, with a great tartness. A subtly sweet middle balanced quite nicely.

Drinkable even though I don't like wild ales. Cherry isn't face puckering but still bitter/tart.

Have absolutely no idea how the person above me put 2.5 stars, ignore that moron and enjoy one of the most delicious crafts to date! Puckering tart cherries balanced with all the essentials that go into a sweet robust pie crust. Bummer I couldn’t get more than 6!

Sour, a little acid like I burped after eating sour cherries and some stomach acid came up with it. Good luck to peeps that like this.

Wow. Awesome. Hard smack of cherry upfront and then every so slowly disappears. Wish the bottle was bigger as I wanted more.

A charming beer. Love the body and sipability but wish the flavor was stronger.

Easy drinking cherry flavor, not too sweet, not too bitter. Almost in between a sour and a wild. Yummy!

Sour ales are not for everyone. Kinda need to know going in, that it is off taste. The sour cherries gives it refreshing kick. Was my first Firestone and I as not disappointed.

Bold cherry flavor that is very tart but not too sour that it overtakes your taste buds. Love the flavor and the smoothness of it. Really surprised me, in a good way!

Slightly cloudy, crimson red color. Thin, white head that sticks to the glass. Smells like cherries and cider. Sharp carbonation, light body, sour taste with a sweet cherry aftertaste.
