A Note on This Beer
At first glance, the mere concept of merging a Belgian Tripel with tequila seems about as natural as letting a tiger and a bunny live together in the zoo. It’s a wickedly fun idea that will ultimately end in disaster.
But, what if the tiger and bunny actually got on surprisingly well? Today’s La Calavera Catrina Three Chopt Tripel is a Tequila Barrel-Aged Tripel, and man, oh man, does it prove that Belgian Tripels and tequila make a great team!
To make it, the flavor-pioneers at Lickinghole Creek conditioned their smooth Three Chopt Belgian Tripel on lime zest and let it rest for over 3 months on Mexican tequila barrel chips!
The final result brims with honey, citrus, and oak notes, with lingering whispers of Belgian spice. Each 9.3% ABV sip is surprisingly refreshing, wrapped in a gentle, summery heat from the liquor.
Forget those sugary restaurant concoctions; this tongue-tantalizing Tripel is the ultimate beer-margarita!
*We do not recommend pairing up an actual tiger and bunny. Those guys wouldn’t get along anywhere near as smoothly as today’s BA Tripel.
